Isospective - Windows by dthought Isospective - Windows by dthought
A while back I decided I wanted some isometric-styled icons (or, as close as an on-screen approximation can be), so I made a set dubbed Isospective. A year later, they needed a bit of shinying up, so I expanded the colour palette, reworked a few that were bugging me and this is the end result.

All icons contain 16, 32, 48 and 128 pixel sizes.

Enjoy :)

Isospective - Windows by ~dthought is a lovely set of isometric style icons, designed by hand even at the smallest size. I find the folder icons particularly charming, especially the wee monopoly-esque house. ( Suggested by ipholio and Featured by livius )

Thanks for the feature! There's some very inspirational work on display there, it's quite humbling to be put next them.

Cheers :)

What OS is it for? Think the icons will work with vista?

The title "Isospective - Windows", along with the category "Icons > OS Icons > Windows" didn't give it away? ;)

Yes, they should work just fine with Vista. Vista has the possibility of ICO files that contain PNG data, however these icons do not (as PNG data makes them less usable with XP)

Nice! great job on the detail!

You thinking of making a set for Windows?

Hmm? This is the set for Windows... there's also a set for the Mac, though it's a separate deviation.

The set contains a kind of hybrid between the two OS', as although I primarily use Windows, I also have a Mac mini sitting on my desk.

Cheers :)

If you've never customised your Windows icons before, you'll need to look into getting some software to help you as Windows by default won't let you customise everything.

One good app - albeit one that does cost money - is MicroAngelo OnDisplay [link]

There are also some other apps that let you change your icons, many free. Do a little googling and you can probably find some other alternatives :)

I suppose you could say that they're just rotated on the grid ;). This was a deliberate design decision so that in general big hardware and applications are facing front to the lower left, folders to the lower right and drives and documents face on. Makes things a little easier to identify at 16px.

Thanks for your comment :)
